On Wednesday evening the Trump administration announced they were ending federal protection for transgender students from former President Barack Obama that allowed them to use public school bathrooms and locker rooms which matched their gender identities, according to NPR. The Justice and Education departments send out letters to school districts nationwide stating how the Obama-era guidance caused a spike in lawsuits over the application of the guidance.
